Another great performance from the Panthers; clean sweep in the Under 10 with Archie, Noah and Charlie P doing the honours, Lewis and Jake coming 1st and 2nd in the Under 13 and Lewis getting 3rd in the Under 16.
Well what a year it has been for Panthers – brilliant performance in the British team competitions and our usual excellent results in the British and BJYL events.
At last sorted out some photos see links below
Which featured one of the friendliest team races where an Ipswich rider was kindly giving useful advice on how best to block his path to Stacker :)
Only a few Kesgrave riders made the long trip to Poole for the 1st round of the nationals. We still secured a number of trophies Tommy Rope & Charlie Parr getting into the Under 8 A finals; Ollie Reynolds winning the Under 10; Lewis winning the Under 12 & Jake coming 3rd; Staker winning the U14 C final and Evan getting into the D final. For such a small team a great haul of trophies.
A great match report Graham that is going into In Touch News, plus coverage in the Ipswich Star.
Kesgrave “Pedal Power” Panthers are celebrating as they are once again crowned the “British Under 10 team champions”. A title that they clearly did not want to relinquish! Retaining this for a record breaking 6th consecutive year. After chasing around the county in previous years to such places as Oxford, Poole, Wigan and Hull you might think it was time for the competition to be held a little closer to home? Unfortunately that was not the case – the Panthers contingent had to travel their furthest so far, this time down to Exeter. Not deterred by this in the slightest, and even with parents missing the motorway turn offs… the five youngsters set about their business of seeing off all before them, in the final, to take the title with a comfortable 50 points – having lead from heat six onwards.
Results: Kesgrave 50, Poole 43, Exeter 37, Ipswich 30.
Kesgrave Scorers: Oliver Reynolds 16, Jake Cazey 13, Daisy Steward 8, Archie Foote 8, Charlie Beeton 5.
The week before that, Kesgrave did hold a British Team Final – The Under 13’s, a competition that the club has previously managed to achieve third place in – no less than four times over the last six years. But this year, having four riders with experience of Under 10 glory, their was a real sense of team spirit and determination in the home camp. However during the first half things were not going to plan and with two exclusions, the Panthers found themselves with a mountain to climb, being eight points behind leaders Ipswich. A much needed team talk took place to help calm and focus the riders and with the well timed use of tactical reserve, Lewis Brinkhoff, the second half was nothing short of perfection. The home side reeled off win after win, not dropping a single point. Securing their first ever “British Under 13 team championship title”.
Results: Kesgrave 68, Ipswich 64, Sheffield 52, Poole 50, Exeter 39, Great Blakenham 25.
Kesgrave Scorers: Lewis Brinkhoff 20, Oliver Wright 16, Jake Vincent 14, Zac Casey 11, Alfie Steward 7.
The titles keep flowing, well done to all the Panthers who took the very long trip to Exeter to retain OUR title (I thought usually if you win a championship 3 years you kept the Trophey!)
After some very close racing the Panthers secured victory at their home ground and can now add the U13 title to their U10. Great team performance, a bit worried at half time, not sure what Paul said to the team but they dominated the second half – not even dropping a single point! Well done to Jake Vincent, Paul Brinkholf (coach), Lewis Brinkholf, Alfie Stewart, Ollie Wright and Zak Cazey.

A brilliant night to celebrate the year’s success. Not only retaining the British Young and Junior title, retaining the Under 10 team National title (for the 5th time) but also adding the British Veterans Team title. The list of awards ran to four A4 pages, at this rate we will have to extend the presentation time slot :)
